Recruiting intensity and hiring practices: Cross-sectional and time-series evidence

Using the German IAB Job Vacancy Survey, we look into black box of recruiting intensity and hiring practices from employers’ perspective. Our paper evaluates three important channels for —namely vacancy posting, selectivity (labor selection), number search channels— through lens an undirected model. posting labor selection show a U-shape over employment growth distribution. The is also upward sloping growing establishments, but relatively flat shrinking establishments. We argue that establishments react to positive establishment-specific productivity shocks by using all more actively. Furthermore, connect fact post vacancies are less selective than those with constant workforce churn triggered employment-to-employment transitions. In line our theoretical framework, margins procyclical business cycle.
